在歌詞方面，他表示雖然接觸波德萊爾的作品，實際上對自己的歌曲沒有太大幫作。主要是因為波德萊爾的作品難以令人明白，但某程度上令Mick Jagger的填詞技巧進步，特別是法式的寫作技巧。在作曲方面，他都有提及曾經創作出類似Bob Dylan曲風的作品。至於歌曲為何會選擇森巴(Samba)搖滾，全賴Keith Richards的意見，將Folk Rock改為森巴(Samba)搖滾。打擊樂器聲明顯，節奏快。
