歌曲(Sittin on) the Dock of the Bay，由美國黑人著名靈魂樂歌手Otis Redding在1968年唱出。歌曲長達2分36秒，屬於靈魂樂(Soul)類型，填詞作曲由結他手Steve Cropper及主唱Otis Redding兩人聯手打造。在1967年短短一年，錄製了兩次的版本，而不幸的是這一年亦是Otis Redding最後一年。在當時，歌曲成功擠進了歐美等地音樂流行曲排行榜，而歌曲特別之處在於加插了口哨聲及海浪聲。

在1990年採訪，拍檔Steve Cropper形容Otis Redding是一個很多想法的創作歌手。他更透露當時Otis Redding的生活居住在船屋，所以他才有這首歌曲的想法，關於船及海灣為主題的題材。

有人認為該歌曲的風格與Otis Redding作風有些不同，可說是改變了Otis Redding的風格，有點流行樂POP的風格。
