I Heard It Through the Grapevine歌曲有幾個知名的版本，首個版本由美國組合The Miracles在1966年錄製，其後，由美國搖滾樂隊Creedence Clearwater Revival在1970年錄製。
而今天要介紹的版本是由摩城唱片(Motown)代表歌手Marvin Gaye在1968年推出，歌曲長度3分鐘左右，類型屬於R&B及靈魂音樂(Soul)，填詞作歌由Norman Whitfield及Barrett Strong，歌曲以第一人稱描述主角對自己「戴綠帽」的感受—知道女友對他不忠出軌一事的感受，而歌曲中”Through The Grapevine”是指傳聞(從他人口中打聽或小道消息)。
